Ryan was a 4 year player, 3 year starter and Tri-Captain in his senior year at Northwest Catholic High School. In 2003, he was elected by opposing coaches to the All Conference, All District and Connecticut All State teams. His West Hartford legion team won two district championships, making the Connecticut state tournament for the first time in 30 years.
