LAKE SUMTER, Fla. - Endicott College scored the go ahead runs in the top of the fifth, and then held on to secure the back-end of a double-head against St. Joseph's, downing the Golden Eagles 7-6 to split with their New York opponent. Endicott now sits at 4-2 overall to begin its season.
Freshman Luis Uribe (Boston, Mass.) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in the Endicott win. Aaron Santos (Cambridge, Mass.) also chipped-in two hits and a run for the Gulls. Dave Weinreich (Milford, Conn.) moves to 2-0 as he earns with win for Endicott, tossing 3 and 2/3rd innings of two hit, one run relief pitching.
In game one of the double-header, Endicott fell 8-5. The Golden Eagles jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead, stringing together five hits in the first inning. John Skutnik (Pittsfield, Mass.) hit a solo shot in the home half of the first, bringing the Gulls back within three.
After two more runs in the second from St. Joseph's, Endicott came back with three runs of its own. The Golden Eagles pulled away in the fourth, as they pushed their lead to four, making the margin to steep for the Gulls.
Skutnik went 2-for-4 in game one with a home run. Christopher Dominguez (Braintree, Mass.) continued his hot bat, smacking two hits and driving in three runs in the losing effort. Senior Dan Gomez (East Longmeadow, Mass.) also had a hit for Endicott.
The Gulls begin to wind down their spring trip tomorrow as they meet North Central for one, then close out the break with two on Friday against MCLA.
