Gulls fall to a strong Salem State squad on Wednesday

Salem State defeats Endicott in men's golf action

MANCHESTER, MA - The Endicott College men's golf team dropped a close decision to Salem State College at Essex Country Club in Manchester, Massachusetts on Wednesday.

Salem State, who was nationally ranked last year and went to the NCAA Tournament with two All-Americans, showed their overall strength and depth in the match against the Gulls. The Vikings had six players all shoot in the 70's, with their team high score of 76.

Endicott also showed great signs of depth in the close loss. The Gulls Garrett Seney (Bow, NH) shot 78, while junior Sean Smith (Kennebunk, ME) shot an 83. Daniel Ryan, the Gulls top player so far this season, continued him impressive run as he shot a game-best 73 to take the Medalist Award. Senior captain Nick Turczak (Housatonic, MA/Monument Mountain Regional) shot 77 to round out the scoring. The Gulls best low four score was 311, while Salem State compiled a 300.

Chris Linnehan (West Springfield, MA) scored a 93 for the Gulls, while sophomore Jerry Miceli (South Windsor, CT) scored a 90.

Endicott looks to continue their well-rounded team play as they head to Chicopee, Massachusetts for this weekends ECAC Division III New England Championship Tournament.
