NEW LONDON, Conn. - Valerie Feldman (Albany, N.Y.) exploded with four goals and three assists, leading the Endicott College Gulls (3-1) to a 13-10 triumph against Connecticut College (0-2) in women's lacrosse action played at Silfen Field Thursday afternoon.
Emily Judd (Peabody, Mass.) chipped in with two goals and two assists for the visitors. Senior Sarah Miner (Fairfield, Conn.) tallied three goals and one assist for the Camels. Sara Christopher (Andover, Mass.) had two goals and one assist for Connecticut College.
The Camels took a quick 1-0 lead when Emily Mason (Williamstown, Mass.) assisted Christopher for a score. Mason had eight ground balls and six draw controls to go with her goal and assist, winning nearly every loose ball that was in her area.
But Feldman tallied consecutive scores to put the visitors on top 4-2. Sara Gunter (Kennebunkport, Maine) provided the assist on the second tally and the visitors had a two goal advantage with 19:37 remaining in the half. The Gulls extended their lead to three goals with a score from Alex Pearce (Underhill, Vt.) with 17:30 to play in the stanza.
But the Camels responded with three unanswered goals to even the game at five. Lindsey Coit (South Portland, Maine) each assisted each other's marker and Ashley Faber (Cohasset, Mass.) netted the equalizer with 10:06 to go. Endicott responded by closing out the half with two scores from Kristen Micho (Syracuse, N.Y.). Micho put in the second goal with just 11 seconds to play and the visitors carried a 7-5 lead into the intermission.
The Camels scored three of the first four goals in the second half, tying the contest at eight when Miner buried a free position goal with 20:29 to play in the game. The Gulls briefly regained their lead but Emily Mason promptly responded with a score for the Camels and it was a 9-9 game with 16:34 remaining.
Pearce put the visitors back on top with 12:32 to play, providing her second score of the day. Feldman provided some insurance, netting the next two scores for the visitors, who were able to hold on for the 13-10 victory.
Molly Hamel (North Yarmouth, Maine) stopped 14 shots in net-minding duties for the Gulls. Rachel Nelson (Denver, Colo.) had 10 saves in the first half. Jenna Ross (Longmeadow, Mass.) had five stops in second half goalkeeping duties for the Camels.
